This gallery brings together animal photographs from travels spanning more than three decades — from the earliest images taken in India in 1991 to recent encounters in Patagonia, South Africa, Scotland, France, Italy, and Spain.

The collection has grown from a handful of photos to more than sixty, and reflects the full range of the animal kingdom: big cats and condors in the Chilean wilderness, elephant and rhinoceros in a South African game preserve, flamingos wading in the Camargue, seals sheltering in Patagonian sea caves, and the extraordinary discipline of Andalusian horses at a Spanish riding school. Some shots were carefully composed; others were pure luck — a puma on a rocky outcrop, a rainbow breaking over grazing horses, a cat in a narrow alley.

What unites them is a sense of being in the right place at the right time, camera in hand.
